LOGO COMPETITION

This competition marks the beginning of a new era for the city of Benghazi. A beginning of cooperation and communication that will foster the correct framework for all stakeholders to come together and build a common future. A better future, one based on principles of healthier living, sustainability, community, economic prosperity and technology.

Below you will find inspiration material and key words from the new vision of the city Expanded Masterplan project to help you get ideas for the logo planning process.

Preservation of the city’s history so that stories can be told for years to come..

Corniche

A sea front to be returned to the citizens.

Lakes & Canals

Connecting Benghazi through water will become the city’s new attraction. Commercial, tourist and residential districts along the canal water front will provide economic investment opportunities for years to come, as well as job creation and environmental rehabilitation.

New Marina.

A new Mediterranean tourist destination will encourage upgrade of local services and increase economic activity in the tourism sector.

Green Belt.

Rehabilitation of eradicated Green Belt and reintroduction of community living to reduce need of car use.

Creating Communities.

Dealing with unauthorised settlements on the outskirts of the city by introducing self-sufficient communities.

What do I need to do?

Please take a minute to go through the instructions on this competition to make sure you understand all the necessary components.

  • You must be a Libyan National to take part in this competition. Libyans with a dual Nationality will of course also be accepted. There is no age limit.

  • Please read through the guide below. If you do not follow the guidelines your logo will not be eligible for selection. Click on the button at the bottom of the page to send your work.

  • No more logos will be accepted after the 15th August 2023. This page will be disabled after this date.

  • Your full name, country of residence, the logo in 3 variations and a short paragraph regarding your thought process and idea. This can be in English or Arabic.

  • National recognition and pride. Your logo will be displayed on all marketing material relating to the masterplan project nationally and internationally. This included digital and print material.


Guidelines

Please follow all the guidelines provided. Failure to do so will result in exclusion from the selection process.

Theme - Idea

The theme of this logo needs to represent the city of Benghazi. Keep it simple and memorable. We want you to think about the past, the present and the future of the city. What kind of message do you want this city of convey? Also consider the physical and geographical features of the city.

Colour Palette

The colours you see have been chosen because this is what we want the city to represent in the future. Also, it highlights the sun, sea and coastal landscape of the Cyrenaica region.

Blue: Trust, knowledge, security

Yellow: Generosity, youth, sunshine

Green: Ecological, sustainability, earth

Please use ALL colours of the given palette. You may use alternative shades of blue, green and yellow. You also need to have a black and a white version. So a total of 3 versions. Other colours will not be considered.

Typography

Keep your typography clean and easily readable. This logo needs to work well both in Arabic and in English. Therefore, you need to produce a logo sample in both languages. The logo does not need to have a stand alone icon, but it would be a good idea for marketing material purposes. Text needs to include the Words Benghazi Masterplan. If you want to add a date use 2030.

Process

Once uploads have been completed, a team of specialists will review the applications and make a selection of 10 logos that will be presented in a public poll for the final selection to be made.
